Explore the fascinating history of Puerto Peñasco and discover how a small fishing village became one of Northwestern Mexico’s most important tourism and real estate destinations.
This guided tour takes you through some of the city’s most significant landmarks, including La Choya, once known as “Arizona’s Beach,” where generations of American visitors embraced the area’s fishing culture and coastal lifestyle. Enjoy a light breakfast at Xochitl’s Restaurant while learning about the community’s early days.
Along the way, you’ll discover the impact of the railroad in the 1940s, the transformation of the harbor, the stories behind the historic Marine Club, the Malecón, and Plaza Gobernadores, as well as the role of the U.S. Army in the region’s post-war development.
The tour continues with a visit to CEDO to learn about the area’s fishing heritage and migration history before concluding at the beautiful Morúa Estuary, where you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by nature.
